Mission Statement
QuORUM (Queers Organizing for Radical Unity and Mobilization) is a consensus-based collective of radical queers in New York City. We work to strengthen community through organizing sustainable collaborative projects that nurture intentional spaces. The spaces we work in include collective homes, social and cultural events, and other sites of mutual aid. Our work cultivates learning, skill and resource sharing, friendship, and thoughtful communication. We hope to build an empowered queer network that fosters respect, diversity and social justice.
Guiding Principles
QuORUM is committed to…
…an accessible, inclusive COMMUNITY built on interactions and alliances between queer people with
shared ideas. We believe in communities that support their members with tangible assistance, resource
sharing, and other types of mutual aid, empowering them and acknowledging their needs for health,
friendship, safety, and intellectual and emotional development.
…an understanding of QUEERNESS as a radical, political identity and philosophy. We support
queerness as a method of dismantling heteronormativity, broadly challenging societal norms and
expectations, and embracing marginalized voices and perspectives. We celebrate the history of queer
radicalism and strive to embody its spirit.
…RESPECT as a tangible practice and an ideal for communicating safely and thoughtfully. We
recognize the importance of being accountable for privilege, being aware of actions and their impacts,
and checking our assumptions about the backgrounds, identities, and experiences of others.
…confronting barriers to DIVERSITY and supporting connections across and within identities and
experiences, including but not limited to racial, economic, educational, ability, age, geographic, linguistic,
gender identity and sexual differences.
…solidarity with SOCIAL JUSTICE movements and the struggles of oppressed peoples locally and
internationally. We recognize the importance of addressing oppression as a fundamental aspect of queer
identification, and believe in community building as a context through which to effect social and economic
change.
…CONSENSUS as both an organizing principle and as a social ideal. Consensus as a group political
process is based on the inclusion of all voices, and we adopt it to challenge ourselves to solve problems
creatively and transparently. We reject the non-consensual nature of many social interactions and affirm
our rights to self-determination and meaningful decision-making regarding ourselves, our communities,
and our environment.

Opening night was great and I’m excited to get more involved. I’d love to work together to put together a forum on The American Equality Bill – which seeks to add SO+GI to all of America’s non-discrimination laws starting with the 1964 Civil Rights Act. xoxoTif
